Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann understands that his team will be technically superior than most of the opponents it will face over the course of this season.
While that edge is a very nice one to have, the former RB Leipzig boss also understands that his team must stay in tip-top shape physically. Because of that, Nagelsmann — and his team of coaches — are pushing the squad hard during training.
One trusted member of Nagelsmann’s inner circle who holds a big voice on how much the boys need to “grind” is Holger Broich, Bayern Munich’s head of the science, performance diagnostics and fitness department.
“I don’t alone decide when we grind. Holger Broich also has input. Football is getting more and more intense, so we want to keep up. We are often superior in terms of football, but we also have to be able to counter it physically,” said Nagelsmann.
Thankfully, the cardio work and strength training that Bayern Munich does was not related to Black Monday’s training session where Sven Ulreich, Jamal Musiala, and Thomas Müller all suffered injuries.
