When Bayern Munich acquired Marcel Sabitzer, there was a lot of griping online and elsewhere about the Rekordmeister’s stronghold on the Bundesliga.
Club CEO Oliver Kahn did not want to hear any of it, however. Kahn thinks Bayern Munich was able to get a strong player because it is “an attractive club.”
“We all know what qualities Marcel has. We watched him for a long time, he was always one of the best players at Leipzig. He has the quality to provide competition in midfield. We are glad that he is with us. The expectations at FC Bayern are always the highest,” said Kahn (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “We have clear ideas and a clear philosophy. When the opportunity arises to bring players or a coach, we try to make it possible. We’re not weakening opponents on purpose and not forcing anyone to join us. We are simply a very attractive club.”
Kahn feels good about where the team is and thinks it is strong enough to be a factor in Europe.
“We are absolutely competitive internationally if you look at all parts of the team. We put a lot of thought into it and were relaxed on the market. Marcel was there and available, we are happy and satisfied and we have options,” Kahn said.
