Bayern Munich and Adidas have launched a new jersey for fans to purchase, this time in theme with the traditional Oktoberfest.
The new kit is mainly dark green in color. The logo and highlights of the jersey are in gold, in tune with the current away kit. A notable highlight is the embroidery that surrounds the club logo, which, according to the club’s website, was inspired by Bavarian tradition. The Alpine edelweiss can also be seen on the embroidery, and on the nape of the jersey.

Sadly, Oktoberfest will not be taking place this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so it’s quite ironic that the club released an Oktoberfest-themed kit. The club’s press release stated that the kit is “intended to express the club’s bond with its home and its traditions, and to show what Oktoberfest and the German record champions are known for globally: openness, socialising, a joy of living and a sense of tradition.”

This is the first kit that took inspiration from Oktoberfest since 2013/2014, when the club’s away kit was a white shirt/brown shorts affair based on lederhosen. Even then, the trademark brown shorts were ditched after Oktoberfest ended.

This will also be the first time that Bayern Munich suits up in green in a long while, if at all. Minus the goalkeepers, Bayern has never worn green in recent memory, unless you count the hideous mintstrocity from 2018/2019.
Bayern will wear the kit once in the upcoming Bundesliga match against VfL Bochum on Saturday, and the kit is currently available for club members to purchase. Two days from now, the kit will be available for all customers in the online shops.
