Bayern Munich defender Niklas Süle was often criticized last season for his up-and-down form.
While some expected Süle to scuffle due to last season being his first after a serious knee injury, others were quick to chide the Germany international for his inconsistency. Former Bayern Munich player Markus Babbel, however, thinks Süle has turned the corner.
“Süle is on the right track. Many, including myself, rightly criticized him because he was simply not disciplined enough to perform 100 percent. Now I have the feeling that he has been working on himself again,” Babbel told Sport1. “He looks fit again. He looks well trained again. And strangely enough, he’s playing pretty well now (laughs). Sometimes you don’t understand a player like that. How can you be a banana and not do it right from the start? Maybe he needed his ass kicked to get back on track.”
With Süle, Lucas Hernandez, and Dayot Upamecano all playing well, Julian Nagelsmann could have a stellar rotation in effect for this season.
