Florian Wirtz is sure to be a popular name on the transfer market in coming seasons.

In an interview with Sport Bild (as captured by Sport1), Bayer Leverkusen’s Rudi Völler denied that phenom Florian Wirtz has a release clause for 2023 in his contract. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidzic played coy about his club’s rumored interest in the young Germany international.

“Of course he doesn’t have that,” Völler stated. “But that doesn’t change the fact that we’re a club that has to give up players from time to time. Just like we gave Kai Havertz for a large sum. But that won’t happen with Florian in the next year or two.”

The rumors linking Wirtz to Bayern Munich have spiked in recent weeks, but Salihamidzic chose not to make a comment on those — just on how “fun” things would be seeing Wirtz working with Jamal Musiala under Hansi Fick for Germany.

“The boy is a really good player, but is a Leverkusen player. I think the German national team will have a lot of fun with him and Musiala in the future,” Salihamidzic told Sky90 (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia).
