Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann had the awkward experience of playing against his former club when the Bavarians squared off with RB Leipzig.

Clearly, however, after a 4-1 victory, the scene was a little less uncomfortable.

“I felt good here today. We were not that much better as the result suggests. In some situations, it was very hectic. We can still do better, of course, it was not all optimal,” said Nagelsmann (as captured by Tz).

Part of the reason that Nagelsmann saw some restlessness, was the re-integration of several key players like Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard.

“I had to get them in; I don’t have that many alternatives. Niklas Süle has played three times with the national team, that’s why he got a break today, so then I had to put Benji and Lucas in,” said Nagelsmann.

One other lineup insertion was Jamal Musiala, who entered the match after Serge Gnabry left with an injury.

“(Musiala) is exceptional in terms of his ability and character. He just enjoys playing soccer. He plays carefree and helps us tremendously,” Nagelsmann said.
