Marcel Sabitzer not expecting special treatment at Bayern Munich

The Austrian star doesn’t think knowing the coach will get him on the pitch.

Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer is in a weird spot.

The former RB Leipzig star transferred to one of his old club’s Bundesliga rivals and now, in his first game at his new club, has to square off with his former teammates.

Awkward as it might seem, Sabitzer is ready to go.

“A few players have not returned yet today. I’m ready, I started training on Tuesday. In the end, the coach decides. If I get the chance to play, I’ll be there. I know there’s a lot of quality in my position,” said Sabitzer (as captured by a Twitter account @iMiaSanMia).

Sabitzer knows he will have to fight to earn playing time and is not expecting Julian Nagelsmann to cut him any slack. In fact, Sabitzer said he did not even lean on Nagelsmann to help paved the way for his transfer to Bayern Munich.

Sabitzer, of course, was a key player for Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig.

“I had little to no contact, everything was done through my agents. For me, it is of course a good thing that I know the coach. At the same time, I also know that it’s not a bonus,” said Sabitzer.
