Julian Nagelsmann prepared for hostile environment against RB Leipzig

A hero’s welcome? Probably not.

Who says you can’t go home? Well, perhaps 34,000 or so RB Leipzig fans will do just that when Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann returns to his old stomping grounds this weekend.

“It’s a special game when you play against your ex club. I’m expecting a heated atmosphere, most of the 34,000 spectators are probably not so happy that I’ll be back. It’s going to be exciting,” Nagelsmann said (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “Leipzig are also aiming to compete at the top of the Bundesliga. They didn’t have a great start to the season. That makes it exciting and an important game for both teams, maybe a little bit more important for Leipzig.”

Nagelsmann understands how dangerous Die Roten Bullen can be and would love to keep his old squad as far away from his new squad in the standings as possible.

“We want to keep a competitor at distance in the fight for the title and confirm the impression from the Hertha game. Leipzig will try to press extremely high - especially in the initial phase. They will put us under pressure early on to win the ball early.”
