Bayern Munich will continue their journey for the DFB-Pokal as they make the trip to Borussia Mönchengladbach on Wednesday, October 27th, for the second round of the cup. The match will kick off at 20:45 CEST (2:45 EST / 1:45 CST / 11:45 PST).
Gladbach, of course, has earned the reputation for being Bayern Munich’s kryptonite in recent years.

FC Bayern head into the second round after a 12-0 victory over Bremer SV, while Gladbach had a much closer 1-0 win over 1. FC Kaiserslautern. For both teams, this is basically a worst-case scenario draw.

Just for comparison to Bayern’s closest competitors, Borussia Dortmund drew FC Ingolstadt 04 (newly promoted from the 3. Liga) and RB Leipzig drew SV Babelsberg 03 (in the 4th tier of German football). You DO NOT want to be facing another Bundesliga team this early in the competition (there are just three other fixtures in this round which pit top-flight teams against each other).
Not only that, but Bayern will have to play away from Munich and in Borussia-Park, making this a very difficult task for Die Roten. Gladbach seems to have Bayern’s number as they have proven to be Bayern’s hardest opponent in the last few years.
Bayern Munich face another risk of a second-round exit from the competition but their fate is in their own hands now. Do you think Bayern will be able to advance to the next round of the DFB Pokal?
