According to a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich is working on the plans for an announcement on Joshua Kimmich’s contract extension.
News broke last week that Kimmich and the club had agreed on a deal, but most of the news since then has revolved around the club’s ongoing negotiations with midfielder Leon Goretzka and Bayern Munich’s rumored pursuit of RB Leipzig star Marcel Sabitzer:
FC Bayern are planning for the announcement of Joshua Kimmich extending his contract. He’s staying and Bayern are now progressing in talks also for Leon Goretzka new agreement to be extended as soon as possible. #FCBayern

Kimmich is expected to be the second-highest paid player on the squad with his new deal.
There is at least some speculation that Bayern Munich is delaying the announcement of Kimmich in hopes of getting a new contract done for Goretzka as well. A consolidated announcement would be fitting considering how closely tied together the two players are — on and off the field.
Aside of being a starting double-pivot in the Bayern Munich midfield, Kimmich and Goretzka joined forces to spearhead the #WeKickCorona initiative, which raised money to support COVID-19 related causes.
Whatever the case, there is no doubt that Bayern Munich fans are eagerly awaiting some positive news.
