Leon Goretzka’s deal with Bayern Munich might be tied to Joshua Kimmich

Could Bayern Munich be in the final stages of wrapping up both Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka?

Reports have been released at a rapid pace this week regarding the respective contract situations of Bayern Munich stars Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka.

Kimmich has reportedly reached an agreement (though nothing official has been signed or announced), while Goretzka’s situation seemed a little more complex. While a deal is expected to get done, there have been some roadblocks. Both Manchester United and Real Madrid have also been linked to Goretzka.

Now, though, it seems like the respective futures of Kimmich and Goretzka are set to be tied together once again per Bild:

With Joshua Kimmich (26) the negotiations are about to be concluded, he is supposed to sign a new 5-year contract (BILD reported exclusively). And the Kimmich contract should also have a decisive influence on Leon Goretzka (26)’s contract poker!

The pro-Bayern decision of his close friend is of course an important factor for Goretzka to participate in the new Bayern era. So far, the negotiations have been considered tricky. Goretzka (contract expires in 2022), like Kimmich, wants to climb into the top earner squad. According to BILD information, the most recent discussions were very positive. It should run in a similar direction to Kimmich’s, but it could take a little longer.

Apparently, manager Julian Nagelsmann has made a good impression on Goretzka as well:

Another decisive reason for Goretzka is Julian Nagelsmann (34). The new Bayern coach talked a lot with his midfield star in the first few days. And has a clear plan with Goretzka.

In a perfect world, Bayern Munich wraps up both deals and makes the announcement for both players together...which would be absolutely fitting this the midfield duo.
