Just a day after the story broke that Bayern Munich and Joshua Kimmich are close to finalizing a contract extension, it appears that Leon Goretzka’s negotiations are also on the fast track according to Sport Bild journalist Tobi Altschäffl.
Whether the leak regarding Kimmich’s alleged deal — and also the news that Bayern Munich was interested in RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabizter — had any effect on Goretzka’s situation remains unknown.
After a long, stagnant summer of no movement, things are happening quickly in the board room at Bayern Munich:
Kimmich's clear future (new contract till 2026 will be signed soon) sends a positive signal to his colleagues. The talks with Goretzka were resumed and went very well: a quick agreement with the midfielder is now possible. ManUnited is still very interested in a Goretzka-Deal.

Interestingly, Altschäffl says that Manchester United is still “very interested” in making a move for Goretzka, but it would seem the English club is an afterthought at this point. We also saw the news that Real Madrid might want Goretzka, but Los Blancos would need to wait until next summer when Goretzka could walk away for free.
The recent news, however, seems to indicate that scenario is nothing short of a long shot.
