Take the money and run — or sit: Bouna Sarr won’t leave Bayern Munich

At least Bouna Sarr will have good seats to all home games.

According to a report from Bild, Bayern Munich veteran right-back Bouna Sarr refused to leave the club despite outside interest.

Despite being the fifth choice right-back behind Benjamin Pavard, Josip Stanisic, Joshua Kimmich, and Niklas Sule, Sarr would not accept a pay cut to move to another club. Instead, he will collect his checks and ride the pine for Julian Nagelsmann in Bavaria:

Right-back Bouna Sarr (29) will probably not do anything anymore. The Frenchman is said to have recently turned down offers. Reason: In Munich he collects around 2.5 million euros per year. Sarr would probably not earn that much anywhere else.

The signing of Sarr has already been chided by most fans and this latest move by the Frenchman — while completely his prerogative and within his contractual rights — will not endear him to many supporters of the club.

Labeled as a “last minute panic buy” at the end of the 2020 summer transfer window, Sarr never was able to establish himself under Hansi Flick and seems to have resumed his role as a deep reserve under new boss Julian Nagelsmann.
