Bayern Munich star goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is back with Germany during this international break and the captain addressed the media during the squad’s opening press conference.
Neuer said that he is looking forward to working with former Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick once again.
“He is a very communicative coach. He is very open with his players and shows a lot of interest in them. I think we’re all looking forward to working with the new coaching team” Neuer said in quotes provided by the DFB.
Flick is taking over for Joachim Löw, but the new boss has no margin for error. Germany is in a precarious spot in Group J as it currently sits in third place.
“We know that we have to make amends. We want to make a good start with the new coaching team and ultimately secure qualification. We’re very motivated to win these next three matches,” Neuer said. “I believe it’s important that we’re a unit on the pitch, with the right body language and focus. We need to show hunger and desire if we want to achieve the best possible results as a team.”
