Report: Bayern Munich bringing in young Croatian talent

Could this be another deft — and inexpensive — move for Bayern Munich?

According to a report from Sportske Novosti, Bayern Munich is closing on another signing: Croatian youngster Lovro Zvonarek, a 16-year-old, who currently plays for Slaven Belupo. Zvonarek, who can play as an attacking midfielder or winger, could bolster Bayern Munich’s youth ranks:

Maybe two months ago we wrote that the departure of Lovro Zvonarek (16) to Bayern is a done deal. However, the transfer of the young jewel from Koprivnica became more complicated, the people who run Belupo were looking for some other options with which to complete the practically already agreed transfer.

And it seems that the matter has finally been resolved and Zvonarek will soon need a trip to Munich. Belupo will lose great hope, but that is why it will supposedly fill the coffers with one and a half million euros.

The talented midfielder also holds the record as the youngest scorer in the history of the First HNL. He scored for Varaždin in the last round of the last championship, he was exactly 16 years old and for 14 days he became the youngest scorer of the 1st HNL. Until then, Alen Halilović held that flattering title, scoring in a Dinamo jersey at the age of 16, three months and 19 days.

Time is ticking, however, so a deal for Zvonarek will have to get done quickly if both sides want the move to go through.
