The preseason slate is essentially over and the results for Bayern Munich’s first four games under Julian Nagelsmann were not great.
With three losses and a draw — all played with mostly young players — some fans are prematurely hitting the panic button.
Everyone who is upset, however, should just take a deep breathe and relax: This season is a marathon and Nagelsmann has not even come close to working with a realistic starting XI just yet. At best, you could say his starters against Napoli were mostly his primetime unit, but even then, there were players out of position (Serge Gnabry at the 10) or definite substitutes, who might not make the game day roster that much (Josip Stanisic). Still, those starters for that match played to a scoreless draw in the first half before making way for the subs.
Let’s be clear...many of the players used by Nagelsmann in the preseason will see little to no playing time for Bayern Munich this season, so lets just take a step back for a bit.
Could Nagelsmann flame out in horrid fashion? Sure. Let’s just see how he does with his real starting XI, though, before we sound the alarm.
