Oh no: Bayern Munich have drawn Borussia Monchengladbach in the DFB Pokal second round

Of all the teams to get, this was definitely the worst one.

Bad news, everyone. The draw for the second round of the DFB Pokal just took place today, and it looks like Bayern Munich got the short end of the stick. The Bavarians will have to face Borussia Monchengladbach away from home, which is probably the one fixture that troubles this team more than any other. Gladbach have already faced Bayern once this year, coming out with a 1-1 draw on the Bundesliga opening day.

Here’s the official draw confirmation by the club:

Honestly, drawing them this early is the worst case scenario in many ways. This is practically giving me Holstein Kiel flashbacks. In the Pokal, you want to get as many easy teams as possible to allow for some rotation players to get minutes. You DO NOT want to be facing another Bundesliga team this early in the competition, especially one that’s considered your “bogey team”.

Oh well, this’ll just be another test for Nagelsmann to overcome. The game will take place on the 27th or 28th of October, which gives him plenty of time to prepare. Let’s hope our next game against Gladbach goes better than the last.
