Bayern Munich II picked up their eighth win in ten matches to start the Regionalliga Bayern campaign on Friday. The 6-0 win over 1860 Rosenheim was the fifth time this season that the young Bavarians have scored at least five goals in a game.

Match Highlights

Bayern II’s solitary goal in the first half came from the boot of Oliver Batista Meier after he got through Rosenheim’s backline and scored from a tight angle. It was the second half, however, where Bayern II absolutely unloaded on the hosts.

Bright Arrey-Mbi scored a stunner of a goal in the 57th minute to kick of Bayern II’s great second half to put them up 2-0. Timo Kern, who came on for Torben Rhein in the second half, scored in the 68th minute to make it 3-0.

Bayern II then scored three goals from the 79th minute to the 83rd minute. First, Lucas Copado making his Bayern II debut drew a penalty that Batista Meier converted. Copado scored his own goal. Then, finally, Len Jastremski assisted Gabriel Vidovic for the final goal of the match.

Squad

Martin Demichelis started the youngest lineup in Bayern II history at just 18.27 years of age. The starting lineup featured two 20 year olds, one 19 year old, six 18 year olds, and two 17 year olds.

Batista Meier continues to be a step above the other players on the field, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him leave Bayern completely before the transfer window closes. He’s too talented of a player (especially at age 20) to be playing in the Regionalliga.

Bayern XI: Kainz - Booth, Lawrence, Arrey-Mbi, Brückner - Rhein (62. Kern), Aydin (72. Welzmüller), Vidović - Sieb (62. Metu), Batista-Meier (80. Jastremski), Motika (67. Copado)

Demichelis appears to have settled into a three-man CB rotation of Nico Feldhahn, Jamie Lawrence, and Arrey-Mbi. He favors the stable hand of the veteran Feldhahn over the two youngsters, but they’re all going to get a bunch of playing time this season. Against Rosenheim, Lawrence wore the captain’s armband for the first time.

Table and Next Match

Bayern II stay in first place in the Regionalliga Bayern table, one point ahead of SpVgg Bayreuth and four points ahead of FC Schweinfurt. Bayreuth have a game in hand.

Due to youth international call-ups, Bayern II’s next two matches against Bayreuth and Schweinfurt have been postponed. The next time Bayern II take the field will be September 10 against Viktoria Aschaffenburg.
