Welcome to the theater of the bizarre.
According to the Daily Express, Pini Zahavi reportedly met with Paris-Saint Germain officials and has offered Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski to the French club.
If you are into math, we have this equation for you:
Silly season + PSG spending like a drunken sailor + A rampant fear that Kylian Mbppe will leave for Real Madrid + Pini Zahavi trying to manipulate the media in every country (Lewy to Qatar stories incoming!) = Craziness and nonsense
Anyway, here are the details on the big pow-wow:
PSG reportedly held a meeting with Robert Lewandowski’s agent last weekend amid speculation Kylian Mbappe could leave this summer. It looks as though there could be some big deals still to take place in the final week of the transfer window.
And here is the justification of how the world is aligning for PSG to have interest in Lewandowski:
Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham remains unresolved while Cristiano Ronaldo appears to be itching for a move away from Juventus. But Mbappe leaving PSG would arguably trump the lot with Real Madrid moving forward with their interest in the generational talent. Reports in France have suggested that Mbappe has no plans to sign a contract extension at PSG.
And Mbappe’s contract situation has seemingly piqued the interest of Real, who are confident the striker wants a move to the Bernabeu. According to Get French Football news, PSG also fear they may have to bow to Real’s interest after a bid of £137million (€160m) was made. It is claimed that PSG held talks with Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, with the Ligue 1 side now looking at possible replacements for Mbappe.
But wait! There’s more! It would not just be Lewandowski going to Paris Saint-Germain, but also Kingsley Coman:
The report adds that Kingley Coman may also be included in a deal with Bayern Munich.
I will give Pini Zahavi this, he works extremely hard to spin tales in the media.
If — a big if — Real Madrid was able to pry Mbappe away from PSG during this window, there is zero doubt that the Les Parisiens would start panic spending, but Bayern Munich has already stated countless times that Lewandowski is not going anywhere this season.
What is really happening through all of these stories is that Zahavi is trying to get Lewandowski more money now — not necessarily a contract extension. Simply put, the agent and his player have seen the astronomical salaries being bandied about in the media and know Lewandowski is probably better than anyone on the planet right now.
Lewandowski wants more money from Bayern Munich, Zahavi wants more money...and this is how they are going to try and get it.
