According to Bild (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia), German national team manager sent staffers Hermann Gerland and Danny Röhl to watch Bayern training on Tuesday ahead of the squad’s DFB-Pokal match against Bremer SV.
The timing of the visit was curious — especially when factoring in that Germany opted to move the release of its roster for the upcoming international break from August 25th to August 27th.
It would be interesting to know exactly wht the purpose of the visit was, but it can be safely assumed that Bayern Munich could have a substantial presence on the squad. Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, and Niklas Süle should all be strong candidates for selection.
Germany will play against Liechtenstein on September 2nd in St. Gallen, against Armenia on September 5th in Stuttgart, and against Iceland on September 8th in Reykjavik. Germany is currently third in the Group J table and can ill-afford another slip up.
