Could Jamal Musiala be starting for Bayern Munich soon?

Jamal Musiala delivered once again this past weekend which raises the question: is the 18-year-old ready for a starting spot in this squad?

In Bayern Munich’s 3-2 win over Köln on Sunday, Jamal Musiala come on as a substitute in the second half. The 18-year-old made an immediate impact in the squad and set up Lewandowski in spectacular fashion for their first goal of the match. With Leroy Sane’s lack of form, should Musiala crack the starting lineup? Many critics and fans believe so.

“He was very close to the starting line-up, I thought for a long time whether he would start. He did a great job after coming on and I was very satisfied. He prepares the goal very well,” Julian Nagelsmann told Sport1 after the game.

It’s not just Nagelsmann that believes in the German wonderkid. Musiala has already become a fan favorite at Allianz Arena and was received very positively to the pitch on Sunday with whistles from fans.

Last season, Musiala took the Bundesliga by storm with an emergence under Hansi Flick. He scored six goals in just 26 Bundesliga appearances, but it was his pace, dribbling, and passion that impressed most.

These performances even put him on the radar of Joachim Löw. Maybe the greatest accomplishment of Löw in his past few years has been managing to recruit Musiala to to German national team, as Musiala also had the option of committing to the Three Lions.

“Jamal is a spectacular player — and the spectators can see that too. Musiala is brave and does not shy away from any opponents. Football fans like that. He had great actions, but that’s what I expect from him too, that’s why he’s here. He will get many more minutes over the course of the season,” Thomas Müller said to Sport1 after the win against Köln.

While Musiala still has plenty to learn and has received criticism for his defensive behavior, he is on the right track and is doing everything right to earn a spot in this squad. If he continues this quality of play, his role in the club will inevitably keep growing. Do you think Musiala should be in the current starting XI?
