Report: Bayern Munich entering final stages of €13-€14 million deal with RB Leipzig for Marcel Sabitzer

Do they have no haggle pricing in Leipzig?

According to a report from Leipziger Volkszeitung’s Guido Schäfer, Bayern Munich has entered the final stages of discussion on a deal for RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabiter.

In the report that was posted on Leipziger Volkszeitung’s Sportbuzzer, the Bavarians are trying to whittle the transfer down to...€13-€14 million — a number that seems just as advantageous for Bayern Munich as it is disastrous for Die Roten Bullen:

Sabitzer, 27, wants to change (and improve) after six years. The breadth of the Bayern squad can be expanded, Nagelsmann’s request met with approval from the Bayern bosses. The need for action is there, Sabitzer is considered suitable.

The RB bosses do not want to give up Sabitzer on a free transfer (this would be the case in 2022) — and not least because of the rocket launch by Dominik Szoboszlai, 20, and the assumption that their team will function without the Austrian.

The transfer fee is currently being haggled. Bayern would like to save one or the other million, after spending on Dayot Upamecano (40 million euros) and Julian Nagelsmann (25 million). RB will probably say yes even at 13, 14 million euros, (as Bayern Munich would have to) add the salary (over six million euros).

If true, this would be a fantastic piece of business for Bayern Munich — and a deal that not only makes sense for the roster, but would be too good to pass up.
