For those of you hoping for a quick resolution to the Marcel Sabitzer transfer rumors, you might be disappointed.

According to Sport1’s Florian Plettenberg, everyone involved in the deal from Sabitzer to Bayern Munich to Julian Nagelsmann wants this move to happen — and talks are going. However, the price on Sabitzer is a sticking point.

Plettenberg also stated that RB Leipzig is looking for more than €10 million in exchange for Sabitzer. Previous reports indicate that the asking price was €18 million to €20 million (which is still absurdly low for a player of Sabitzer’s caliber):

BFW Analysis

So...what’s going on? It seems like Bayern Munich is going to try and squeeze every euro out of this deal. The Bavarians knows the following aspect so:

  • Sabitzer is in the last year of his contract.
  • RB Leipzig does not want to let him leave on a free transfer next summer.
  • Julian Nagelsmann wants Sabitzer — and likely has an exact plan for how he will use him.
  • Sabitzer wants to move to Bayern Munich.

All of that means that Bayern Munich is in no rush to make the deal happen. The Bavarins can wait for Die Roten Bullen to accept an even lower offer for the Austrian.

In a nut shell, it seems like this deal is going to happen, but not until the very end of the window.
