Bayern Munich II scored four times in the second half to beat Unterhaching 5-1 on Friday. Former Bayern player Sandro Wagner will be disappointed at how his side fell apart in the second half as Bayern II pushed for goals.

Match Highlights

Coming into the match, Unterhaching were only three points behind Bayern II in the table, and they kept it close for 45 minutes. However, whatever Martin Demichelis said to Bayern II at halftime spurred them to a big four goal half and the 5-1 victory. Coming into the match, Unterhaching had only allowed 10 goals in the first 8 games of the season. Now, that total is 15.

Gabriel Vidovic opened the scoring for Bayern II after finishing a inch-perfect cross from Oliver Batista Meier; however, Boipelo Mashigo equalized for Unterhaching just before halftime. Bayern II were quick to retake the lead in the second half when Taylor Booth whipped in a cross that Timo Kern headed in for the 2-1.

Bayern II made it 4-1 pretty quickly with Booth being credited with a goal when his cross was deflected in the net. A few minutes later, Booth played Vidovic into the box, and a Unterhaching defender knocked the ball away into his own net. Bayern sealed the 5-1 win the 81st minute when captain Nicolas Feldhahn headed in a free kick from 17 year old Eyüp Aydin.

Squad

Booth got the start at right back today due to injuries and really had an excellent performance on the day. He was playing out of position and directly contributed to three of Bayern II’s goals on the day before coming off in the 77th minute.

In the midfield, it was a disappointing performance from Torben Rhein who didn’t add a lot going forward for the team before being subbed out after an hour. Still, Bayern II must be pleased with the performance of Aydin in the midfield. He continues to shine and, having just turned 17 years old, almost certainly means that his best days are ahead of him.

Bayern XI: Schneller - Brückner, Arrey-Mbi, Feldhahn, Booth (77. Herold) - Rhein (61. Lawrence), Aydin, Kern (83. Sieb) - Batista-Meier (83. Metu), Vidović, Scott (46. Motika)

Demichelis continues to juggle a squad with players going up to play with the first team and players going down to play with the U-19s. It must be said that he’s doing a great job so far.

Table and Next Match

Bayern II remain in first place in the Regionalliga Bayern table, one point ahead of SpVgg Bayreuth; however, the second place club has a game in hand at the moment.

The next time Bayern II take the field will be Friday, August 27th away to 1860 Rosenheim. Finally, a midweek break for the kids!
