Bayern Munich alumnus Herrmann Gerland has hit the ground running. With many thinking that the Mannschaft are lacking a reliable striker, the veteran coach has headed south to Austria to see if the solution lies there.

Karim Adeyemi has had a blistering start to the season for RB Salzburg, scoring six goals in six matches under new coach Matthias Jaissle. Could it be that the scouting staff of Salzburg have struck the mother load once again? Gerland was spotted at the Red Bull Arena where Adeyemi scored the only goal on the day as the home side defeated the poor sisters from the capital Austria Wien.

Sport Bild is reporting that Adeyemi is likely to get his first call up to the national team before the year is out.

Adeyemi is not a big man, but makes up for it with his speed, close ball control and knowledge of the game. Currently, he is currently tearing up the OBL at a torrid rate of 1.83 G+A per 90. For comparison Haaland managed 1.84 in his final half season at the same club in the same league.

With numbers and publicity also come the inevitable transfer rumours with Klopp’s Liverpool FC and Arsenal FC apparently battling FC Barcelona for the 19-year-old. Transfermarkt has his value listed at eleven million euros but one would think it would take more than that to pry the Munich native away from the Red Bull Empire.

It is too soon to say if Gerland was watching the next great German attacker, but if he gets a call up to the national team fans will be in a better position to judge for themselves. Here at BFW, we will add him to the list of youngsters we are keeping an eye on and try to provide updates on his progress from time to time.
