Bayern Munich loanee Alexander Nübel is king of the mountain at AS Monaco

This should be good news for Alexander Nübel.

Per a release from the club website, AS Monaco goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte has officially been loaned to Atlético Madrid.

What does that mean for Bayern Munich loanee Alexander Nübel? Well, his biggest competitor is now off playing for Atleti. Nübel should be pleased with this news:

At Monaco since the summer of 2019, Benjamin Lecomte, 30, has played in the red and white’s goal 60 times in all competitions. The goalkeeper, who trained in Niort and passed through Lorient (2010-2014, then 2014-2017), Dijon (2013-2014) as well as Montpellier (2017-2019), is preparing to meet in Madrid former Monaco players Thomas Lemar, Yannick Carrasco and Geoffrey Kondogbia. He thus joined Atlético, the reigning Spanish champion, for a one-year loan.

This is significant for Nübel as it should pave the way for the German to play the majority of the minutes in between the sticks for AS Monaco — something that would not have happened with Bayern Munich.
