The DFL-Supercup is always an interesting match between the Bundesliga winner and the DFB-Pokal winner. This year we had a very interesting match at our hands — Der Klassiker. Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund met with their new coaches for the first time, but Bayern won the match 3:1 and showed their dominance under Julian Nagelsmann.

One of the most interesting moments of the match was when BVB pulled one back, and Erling Haaland demanded more support from the fans. And his routine lasted for a while, as the whole team felt that there is still a possibility of leveling the score line.

As Haaland flailed at the spectators, Leon Goretzka was next to him. You could see Bayern’s mentality on Goretzka’s face — he just grinned at him and took a moment to shake off the anxiety.

Bayern remained calm under pressure and didn’t let Borussia Dortmund take any chance from thereon. In the end, Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji made a critical error in front of BVB’s goal, and Robert Lewandowski took the chance and scored his second of the night.

It was impressive how Bayern handled the pressure, despite having a winless streak in the preseason and an underwhelming Bundesliga opener — their spirit is still there!

After the match, Leon Goretzka told Bild: “It is an absolute prestige duel, and we wanted to demonstrate strength!”

Bayern Munich certainly was able to show just that.
