It’s another edition of Der Klassiker, and whatever you think of that marketing term, you can’t deny that it grabs your attention. Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund face each other in front of fans for the first time in almost two years, as the two giants of German football meet up for the DFL Supercup.
Most years, this game is derided as a “glorified preseason friendly”. However, given that the first matchday of the Bundesliga has already been played, the Supercup has a little more significance than usual, at least for Bayern Munich. Julian Nagelsmann desperately needs a win on his record to really kickstart his Bayern career, and fans of the Bavarians need to see what progress has been made under the new coach. However, BVB have come out of the gates flying, with the ever-lethal Erling Haaland leading the line. What’s going to happen in this one?
