Has Josip Stanisic ended Bayern Munich’s search for a right-back?

If any player has “won July and August”, it is Josip Stanisic.

According to kicker, Bayern Munich defender Josip Stanisic might have officially put an end to the club’s rumored search for a right-back:

In response to Pavard’s ankle ligament injury, Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann did not bring in Sarr and instead nominated talented Josip Stanisic for the starting eleven. After his performance in Gladbach (kicker grade 3), the search for a right-back could perhaps be ended with the young German-Croat as an internal solution. For Sarr, on the other hand, Stanisic’s appointment clearly showed that despite a contract that still has three years to run, there are no longer any real plans for him.

The news that Stanisic has bypassed Sarr on the depth chart should not surprise anyone. Sarr has been pretty bad since being part of a series of panic buys at the end of last year’s summer transfer window.

Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has already praised the newly-minted Croatian youth international and it just seems inevitable that the versatile defender will make himself part of the game day roster on a permanent basis.

Stanisic’s ability to play right-back, left-back, center-back, and defensive midfield should help his stock within Bayern Munich as well.
