For Bayern Munich fans hoping to see defenders Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard back soon, you are going to be disappointed.
According to a report from kicker (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia), both Hernandez and Pavard are not expected to return until after September’s international break, which is slated to run from August 30th through September 8th:
Lucas Hernández and Benjamin Pavard will not be back until after September's international break [Kicker]

What does this mean for the Bayern Munich defense? To start, we should see a steady dose of Niklas Süle, Dayot Upamecano, and Tanguy Nianzou at the center-back spots. As for right-back, it can probably be assumed that Josip Stanisic will hold down the fort instead of Bouna Sarr.
Stanisic has been extremely impressive since Bayern Munich opened camp, while Sarr is reportedly content to ride the pine — and his contract out — in Bavaria.
The news on Pavard is not totally unexpected, but many assumed Hernandez would be able to return sooner.
