According to Sport Bild’s Christian Falk (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia), Pini Zahavi offered Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski to Chelsea FC for the cool price of €80 million.
The London squad, however, balked at Lewandowski for that price because of his age. The report also stated that Zahavi, who acts as Lewandowski’s agent, made the proposal to Chelsea without consulting Bayern Munich — which seems to be important in a matter like this.
Chelsea, of course, opted to sign Inter Milan sign Romelu Lukaku instead. Lukaku is expected to step in to the “9” role for Thomas Tuchel immediately and provide an impact.
It can be assumed that Zahavi never consulted Bayern Munich in this discussion because the Bavarians have made it abundantly clear that they had no intentions of selling Lewandowski this summer.
What this means for next summer, however, remains to be seen. Lewandowski has once again been linked with an exit and Zahavi has been using all of his media contacts to apply pressure on Bayern Munich once again.
