Flick’s got lofty goals for Germany (@iMiaSanMia)

Former Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick is not interested in debating where Germany stands against its international competition these days. The 56-year-old is focused on rebuilding German football into a juggernaut.

“We’re 12th at the moment, but the new FIFA ranking will come out at the end of August. The goal is to get back to the top of the world. It won’t be quick, but we will do everything we can to get back to the top of the world,” Flick said.

The sextuple-winner also views Italy and Spain and squads he can use as models for Die Mannschaft.

“The passion they showed at the Euros was inspiring,” Flick said. “They tried to put the opponent under pressure early on. We can learn from everyone.”

No word on Coman (Bavarian Football Works)

Earlier this summer, the ongoing contract battle between Kingsley Coman (mostly his camp) and Bayern Munich was all the rage.

Now, however, everything has gone mysteriously...silent.

We know that the Bavarians have been hard at work in the board in negotiating with Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, and Niklas Süle, but Coman’s case seems to have just fallen to the wayside.

Last we heard, the two sides were pretty far apart and sometimes during negotiations that can mean a break is needed. Perhaps that is all this means or maybe Bayern Munich has realized dealing Coman’s camp (and his demands) might not be part of their future planning.

With Manchester United and Chelsea — two of the top suitors for Coman — both making big splashes on other players, the market for the oft-injured Frenchman could be barren for now as well.

Whatever the case, Coman is just back from an injury and in the mix to start this weekend against Borussia Mönchengladbach. With his contract running through 2022/2023, Bayern Munich also could just be tabling further discussions until next summer, when the heat will almost certainly will be on both sides to get a deal done — or find a bidder with a good proposal.

As Inter sells everyone, Perisic could be next (Football Italia)

Former Bayern Munich treble-winner Ivan Perisic could be leaving Inter Milan (again):

The sales aren’t over at Inter, as it’s reported either Marcelo Brozovic or Ivan Perisic is also on the transfer market. While there were rumours of €70m proposals for Lautaro Martinez from Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Arsenal interest, it seems Inter are reticent to let their other star striker go as well. That doesn’t mean the rest of the squad is safe, as TeleLombardia report this evening that at least one of Brozovic and Perisic should also leave San Siro this summer. The two Croatia internationals are only under contract until June 2022 and negotiations for a renewal seem doomed to failure. So rather than lose them on free transfers, they are being told to find other clubs.

If affordable...I’d still absolutely take Perisic back with Bayern Munich.

On a side note, the talent drain at Inter is insane.

Pogba-to-PSG just got Messi (Sky Sports)

Lionel Messi just claimed his first victim at Paris Saint-Germain and the Argentine legend has not even taken the field yet. All summer, Paul Pogba was rumored to be making the jump from Manchester United to PSG. Now, however, that move probably will not happen:

Paris Saint-Germain are increasingly unlikely to make an offer for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba in this transfer window. Sky Sports News reported in July that the French club are interested in signing Pogba and they will continue to keep an eye on his situation, especially if he does not sign a new contract before the end of this year.

This actually could have some implications with Bayern Munich as Manchester United was one of the clubs linked to midfielder Corentin Tolisso. If Pogba stays, the Red Devils might be less inclined to submit an offer for Tolisso.
