Report: Bayern Munich in direct contact with “true target” Marcel Sabitzer

Could things be progressing quickly behind the scenes?

At this stage, it is beginning to feel an awful like things could start moving quickly between Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.

On the “Here We Go” podcast, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated that Bayern Munich and Sabitzer are engaged in discussions. In approximately the 26th minute of the show, Romano addressed the rumor directly. There were some doubting the veracity of the rumors, but things are clearly happening behind the scenes between the Bavarians, the Austrian midfielder, and his current club RB Leipzig:

“Bayern Munich are working on it (signing Marcel Sabitzer). It’s not done yet with Leipzig. Bayern are in direct contact with the player and are really pushing to sign him. He’s a true target but it is not done yet.”

Interestingly, and in a somewhat related note, Romano also said that Chelsea FC never submitted an official bid on Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland — despite massive interest in the player. The reality of Haaland leaving Borussia Dortmund thus summer seems to have always been nil.

Could that mean Bayern Munich will have an opening in 2022? Hmmmm....
