Per a release from the club website, Bayern Munich and Audi are “accelerating the electrification of the German champions.”

What does that mean? Well, 15 Bayern Munich players are going to rolling steady with some new electric wheels courtesy of Audi (feel free to send a model this blogger’s way as well):

Going forward, 15 Bayern players and officials will use the fully electric premium models Audi e-tron GT* or Audi RS e-tron GT* as company cars. The official handover of the sporty electric cars took place at the Audi driving experience center in Neuburg an der Donau.

Bayern Munich board member Andreas Jung said this was yet another example of the club;s commitment to the community.

“FC Bayern stands for a responsible approach to the environment and mobility,” said Jung. “Together with Audi, we want to inspire people to do more to protect the climate, through positive examples of successful transformation. The electrification of our fleet with the Audi e-tron* and the equipping of our training ground and the Allianz Arena with charging points are great examples of this. We’re proud to have a shareholder like Audi, who perfectly combine sportiness, innovation and sustainability.”

Leroy Sané, Leon Goretzka Serge Gnabry, Julian Nagelsmann, and Robert Lewandowski were among the personnel who took part in the ceremonies today, getting a close look at the cars. Here are some quotes from the participants:

“The power of the Audi RS e-tron GT is exciting,” said head coach Julian Nagelsmann.

“Driving electric is the future of mobility,” added an impressed Sané when talking about “how smoothly the Audi RS e-tron GT whizzes through corners.”

Henrik Wenders, Head of Brand Audi, said his company and Bayern Munich share many traits.

“When imagination and passion meet, it creates great success. That is just as true for our partner FC Bayern as it is for Audi. The Audi e-tron GT and the Audi RS e-tron GT demonstrate intelligent performance in its purest form,” said Wenders. “These models are already shaping the Audi brand for the future. It’s therefore obvious that these brand ambassadors form a unit with the FC Bayern brand ambassadors and we show how we’re living Vorsprung together.”
