Bayern Munich legend and recent alumnus Javi Martinez has signed a one-year contract with Qatar SC in the eponymous desert nation. The club made the signing public earlier today via social media.

Qatar Sports Club signs Spanish player Javi Martinez to support the club’s ranks for the next season.

Javi simultaneously released a brief clip in English to greet his “Qatar Sports friends” and promised to see them soon:

It will be a new adventure for Javi, who was previously linked to his home club in Spain, Athletic Bilbao.

Qatar SC finished in sixth place last season in the Qatar Stars League, a full 28 points behind Al Sadd (60), which is coached by Xavi (Martinez) of Barcelona fame. Javi will be coached next season by Brazilian Ze Ricardo, whom Qatar SC hired on a two-year contract this past June.

Good luck next season, Javi, and perhaps we’ll see you...in Doha!
