According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich inquired about the availability of FC Barcelona midfielder Pedri after the Bavarians destroyed Barca in the Champions League quarterfinal back in 2020.
FC Barcelona was having none of that talk, however, and pushed Bayern Munich’s request aside — despite the fact the Bavarians were prepared to offer as much as €40-€45 million (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia):
The day after the 8-2 game last year, Bayern had called Barcelona to ask for Pedri and were prepared to pay €40-45m. Barcelona said 'no way, we want to keep him' [@FabrizioRomano, @podcastherewego] pic.twitter.com/eHJFc4m2Ya

Pedri’s stunning performance for Spain against Italy has thrust him into the spotlight and the world is now privy to what many on the FC Barcelona campus already knew — Pedri is pretty damn special.
At just 18-years-old, Pedri appears to be well on his way to stardom. According to Transfermarkt, Pedri has a market value of €70 million, which shows that Barca made a wise decision to hold on to the youngster. Chances are that it would take even more than that to pry Pedri from FC Barcelona’s cold, dead hands.
