In a recent interview with Bild, Bayern Munich midfielder Marc Roca talked about how he reads book aimed to help him to improve his mentality about working through difficult situations.
As a young player, Roca was in a very similar situation to where he is now with Bayern Munich — not a regular. Still, Roca knows and understands how vital the mental part of the game is.
“When I started with the Espanyol professionals, when I was 20, I had phases with little playing time. I didn’t understand that at the time, I was frustrated and often couldn’t accept it,” said Roca. “That’s when I started reading books about personal development, overcoming and psychology like ‘Now - the power of the present’. I love it because the books make you think, grow and teach you to take positive things out of all situations. This perspective has helped me a lot in life ever since.”
Roca has shown a great mindset for how to approach his situation with the Bavarians. As he enters what could be a make-or-break season, that assurance could be helpful in dealing with the everything ahead of him.
