With so many big name players on Germany’s roster, Robin Gosens was not sure exactly how well-received he would be by the star-studded roster at the European Championships.
Not shockingly, the star players quickly accepted Gosens and the Atalanta star cited Bayern Munich’s Thomas Müller as one of the primary reasons he felt so comfortable.
“I was incredibly pleased that I was so well received by such established top stars in the circle. Of course, that also made it easier for me to function on the pitch,” said Gosens to Sport1’s Florian Plettenberg on his “Meine Bayern-Woche” podcast. “I think if you feel uncomfortable and then you’re also kind of a loner and you don’t connect with your teammates, then you can’t perform on the pitch. Accordingly, it has helped me incredibly that I was from day one, part of the squad.”
Gosens found being able to spend time with Müller on of his personal highlights.
“An incredibly good guy, on the pitch, off the pitch. It was a nice highlight that I was still able to get to know him,” Gosens said.
