Lucas Hernandez may be out of commission for a while, but he still had a surprise for Bayern Munich’s fanbase.

As captured by Bild, the French international was seen at Säbener Straße after his surgery, sporting a new hair color. Hernandez’s once brown hair is now a light blond, a color that will make sure he stands out from the rest of the squad.

Hernandez is far from the first player to try out a blond look, with players such as Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng, Robert Lewandowski, and Rafinha already having bleached their hair over the past few years. Boateng even went as far as to dye his hair blue/purple at the beginning of last season, albeit for a short period of time.

Why Lucas has gone down the blond side is yet unknown. He may have lost a bet, as was the case for Hummels and Boateng. Maybe someone put him to shame for France’s early exit from the Euros, although truth be told, Hernandez had very little to do with it. Perhaps he wanted to look like his brother Theo, who currently has similar hair color. Or perhaps he just wanted to try a new look. We’ve all wanted to try something new at one point in our lives. I should know, I’ve tried every color of the rainbow in my college days.

Bild’s report also mentioned some good news - Hernandez will miss about four weeks, which means that he should be in contention to return very early in the season, if not at the very start of it. Hopefully his fun new look continues for a while so we can see a new, and possibly improved, Lucas tearing it up for Bayern!
