Word began trickling out this week that Anderlecht were interested in bringing Bayern Munich’s Joshua Zirkzee to Belgium, and it’s now looking like the move is going to happen barring a late issue. Zirkzee’s absence during Bayern’s friendly against Napoli seemingly confirms that this deal is happening.

Now, we have word from Sport1’s Florian Plettenberg that the loan is close to being done. He says that it’s likely that Zirkzee’s destination will be announced “after this weekend” at the latest.

Belgium is a nice landing spot for Zirkzee to get his feet under him in a top fight setting. Anderlecht are one of the giants of Belgian football; however, their struggles last season had them fall down to qualify only for the new UEFA Europa Conference League. They enter in the Third Qualifying Round and will play Albanian club Laçi.

Rumors persist that there will be purchase option on the loan, but we’ll have to wait and see if more information becomes available soon.
