Last spring there were some loose — very loose — rumors linking Bayern Munich to Napoli center-back Kalidou Koulibaly.
Those whispers, of course, never amounted to anything, but sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidzic did address them on Italian radio show “Radio Kiss Kiss — Napoli” (as captured by Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla).
“Koulibaly? We didn’t look at him. We bought (Dayot) Upamecano, so in defense we are full,” said Salihamidzic. “As for Tolisso, however, no one has called me to ask for information on him. We hope he will have a great season with Bayern Munich.”
Tolisso is currently out after testing positive for COVID-19, but is still considered one of the players most likely to be sold by Bayern Munich during this transfer window. As for Koulibaly, those rumors never really made any sense to begin with.
If there is one area on the depth chart at Säbener Straße where Bayern Munich has a lot of depth...it’s at center-back.
