According to SPOX journalist Kerry Hau, former Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos was never a serious consideration to sign with Bayern Munich. The club might not even be looking to bolster the backline at all and could rely on some of the young players already in tow.
Per Hau, the signing of a player like Ramos would have sent the wrong message to players lie Dayot Upamecano, Tanguy Nianzou, and Chris Richards. Interesting, Hau also shot down the recent rumors regarding Bayern Munich’s alleged interest in Piero Hincapié, a 19-year-old defensive prospect from Ecuador:
- IV: #SergioRamos ist kein Thema (und wäre ohnehin das falsche Signal an #Upamecano, #Nianzou und ggf. #Richards). Auch an den Gerüchten aus Südamerika um Ecuador-Talent Piero #Hincapié (19/Atlético Talleres) ist nichts dran.

While that might not shock some, there are still a lot of questions as to what will happen on Bayern Munich’s backline. Richards could easily accept another loan assignment, while Niklas Süle has been linked to Chelsea — but has recently been said to be interested ina contract extension in Bavaria.
