England’s Jordan Pickford was looking forward to playing against Germany’s Manuel Neuer and was ecstatic that the Three Lions picked up the victory.
Prior to the match, Pickford talked about his admiration for the Bayern Munich goalkeeper and had the goal of getting Neuer’s jersey.
Mission accomplished on quite a few fronts on that day for Pickford.
“I said I would ask him [Neuer] for his shirt at the end of the game and I managed to get that and get it signed, so that was nice for me,” said Pickford, Everton’s top goalkeeper (per Goal). “It was great to play against him with Germany and I will be getting that framed. He congratulated me and wished me the best despite the fact he will have been disappointed with the defeat.”
Pickford got to live out a dream in getting the best of Neuer and he will get his own chance to carve out a path toward goalkeeping greatness if he continues his solid play at the Euros.
