Former Bayern Munich star David Alaba will have big expectations on him at Real Madrid, but fans of Los Blancos are going to have to wait a bit until they get a full view of their prized signed.

Per a very brief release from the club this morning, Alaba has tested positive for COVID-19. There was no word on how long Real Madrid expects the Austria international to be out of commission, but if it is a standard case with no lingering effects, Alaba could be back in action within two weeks:

Real Madrid CF communicates that our player David Alaba has tested positive for COVID-19.

Surely, this is disappointing news for Alaba, Real Madrid, and the club’s fanbase. With Sergio Ramos now at Paris Saint-Germain and Raphael Varane’s recent signing with Manchester United, Alaba’s role with the Spanish club suddenly is all the more vital to the club’s aspirations this season.
