Bayern Munich goalkeeper Sven Ulreich was annoyed with himself for an errant pass that led to Ajax’s first goal during the 2-2 draw between the teams.
The veteran back-up saw some great improvements from his squad overall, but lamented the gaffe which have Erik ten Hag’s team an early edge.
“We pressed a lot better compared to the game against Köln and got stuck into challenges better. The guys did well, including those who came on. Of course, the ball needed to be played better before the goal for 1-0. It’s annoying a goal came from that,” Ulreich said (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia. “The draw was deserved in the end. Julian does good training, articulates well and has a clear idea of how to play. Of course, it’s important to get that into us to start with, but we’re well on track.”
Ulreich did eventually recover and make several nice saves in the second half. During a game when he was under duress quite a bit, Ulreich showed great perseverance in shaking off a mistake and remaining focused on the task at hand.
