As Bayern Munich geared up to face Ajax in their preseason friendly yesterday, the overlords at Adidas finally saw fit to release the official designs of the 2021-22 home kits. The design is much better than the original mockups we were shown a few months back, but the reaction from the fanbase is still sort-of mixed thus far.
On the bright side, we finally get to have five stars over the badge! Bayern are the only Bundesliga team with that many stars — Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach each have two stars, but no other team has more than one.
Here’s the home kit in all of its glory:

The switch to a much darker shade of red for the top of the jersey was a good choice, and makes the kits look less like an Arsenal home shirt and more Bayern-ey (if that’s a word. Stil, the design is a little bit boring and won’t be counted among the most iconic Bayern kits of all time.
Here are some pics of actual Bayern stars wearing it, and some suit the look better than others:

Bayern are set to debut their home kit in today’s game against Ajax at the Allianz Arena. We live in strange times, where a new home kit is getting debuted in a friendly rather than the last official game of the season, but at least there will be fans in the stadium to check it out.
