According to a report from Sky Sports, Bayern Munich is looking closely at PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo and Ajax’s Antony to help bolster the wing corps:
FC Bayern want to strengthen themselves on the wings for the upcoming season. In return, the people of Munich have now apparently scouted more in the Dutch Eredivisie. Most recently, Cody Gakpo (22 years old, left winger) from PSV Eindhoven was scouted intensively. “You know him well and appreciate him,” says Sky Transfer expert Max Bielefeld. The problem, however, is that a transfer of 25 to 30 million euros for Bayern would currently not be manageable.
In addition to Gakpo, Antony (21 years old, right winger) from Ajax should also be a topic for the record champions. The Brazilian moved from FC Sao Paulo to the Eredivisie last year “and has developed really well, which also reflects his market value [32 million, editor’s note]”, said Bielefeld. “He’s the classic winger, very good at one-on-one, strong flanks, great start,” enthuses Bielefeld. But the problem with him is also the price. “Nothing can be done below 30 or 35 million euros this summer - and Bayern have to scrape that together first.”
We had seen the rumors regarding Gakpo just two weeks ago, but Antony is a new name in being linked to the Bavarians. Both players are rumored to be more expensive, but both are consider up-and-coming players in the Eredivisie.
