On Friday, we saw the news that Manchester United had already — allegedly — submitted a more lucrative deal to Leon Goretzka than Bayern Munich had proposed. According to Sky Sports, though, the Red Devils could be ramping up their pursuit of Goretzka to compensate for the possible loss of Paul Pogba:
Paul Pogba is ‘increasingly unlikely’ to sign a new contract extension at Manchester United amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain. Pogba, who can sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January, wants to assess all his options before deciding on what is likely to be the last big contract of his career.
United have been looking at alternative midfield targets including Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga and Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka.
Interestingly, Camavinga has been linked to Bayern Munich several times over the past five months. While it seems extremely unlikely that Bayern Munich would let Goretzka leave, Camavinga could be an interesting contingency plan for Manchester United should Pogba bolt for PSG.
