Is Leroy Sane’s contract causing a rift between players and management at Bayern Munich?
According to a report from Sport Bild (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia), Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry are both irritated with Sane’s deal and do not feel as if they should be paid on a lower scale than the former Manchester City winger.
Per the report, the players understand and acknowledge that players such as Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer, and Thomas Müller are deserving of their respective spots at the top of the salary scale, but Sane’s contract last season has now “opened the door” for the younger players to make similar demands.
Specifically, Coman and Gnabry both do not feel like they should have lower wages than Sane — and both do not view Sane as being superior to them on the pitch. If true, it seems that the club’s high-profile chase of Sane might have left a lasting impression on some of his teammates.
Coman is currently earning €12 million gross, but wants to earn €12 million net — which would be a substantial raise.
