According to a report from Sport Bild (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia), Leon Goretzka’s camp is annoyed with Bayern Munich and some other clubs are getting involved with the midfielder.
What clubs? A few that Bayern Munich fans would probably not like involved in a bidding war: Manchester United, FC Barcelona, and Real Madrid.
Per the report, Goretzka’s camp is asking to be paid in the “Robert Lewandowski”-echelon of Bayern Munich’s payroll. The 26-year-old wants a a salary of €20 million per year and the last offer from the Bavarians was allegedly in the €10 to €12 million range.
Manchester United has reportedly already submitted a bid that exceeds Bayern Munich’s most lucrative proposal.
Bayern Munich knows that Goretzka is an integral part of the squad, but — allegedly — is reluctant to pay him more because he could be considered “injury prone.”
It is hard to think that Bayern Munich would let Leon Goretzka walk away, but the club has strict standards for its budget.
